Weight Training: Course Description

Often people are interested in weight lifting but lack the knowledge necessary to do it safely and correctly. 'Weight Training' is a free course designed to equip students with the information needed to properly begin a weight lifting program by discussing a variety of exercise related topics, including spotting technique, weight room etiquette and safety. Taught at MIT by Professor Halston Taylor, this course places emphasis on providing students with the tools required to develop a weight training program that suits their specific physical needs. The class also helps explain the biomechanics that are associated with weight training and attempts to help students feel comfortable in the weight room. Instruction regarding the alternation of upper and lower body workouts is also provided.

Video demonstrations, lecture notes and a list of related readings are available for free download. If you're interested in taking this free course, visit the weightlifting course site.
