People-Centered Designing: Course Description

We use man-made devices many times a day and don't think much about it unless the device is difficult to use. People-centered design (also known as user-centered design) focuses on product usability and the cognitive processes used in operating all types of devices. This course looks at the principles and practices of people-centered design by evaluating consumer products for their usability. Specific topics include ergonomics, research techniques, gathering data, inclusive design and user design among other topics. The original undergraduate course was designed for students of all disciplines.

This OpenCourseWare includes lecture notes, quizzes, interactive animations, course content videos and relevant documents. If you're interested in taking this free course, visit the user-centered design course page.
