Frameworks and Models in Engineering Systems and Engineering Systems Design: Course Description
This course teaches how to put an extremely complex system into a more manageable model with which tests can be performed and conclusions drawn. The results are important for engineers and other stakeholders so they can develop appropriate strategies and decisions when a variety of options exist. Specific topics include system classes and dynamics, risk assessment, models and frameworks, contemporary issues, the CLIOS process, scenario planning and system complexity among other topics. The course is designed for students of all Engineering disciplines, but students of other backgrounds may benefit as well. The actual undergraduate MIT course is taught by Professor Joseph Sussman in a lecture-style format.
