Internal Combustion Engines: Course Descriptions

'Internal Combustion Engines' is taught by Professor Wai Cheng of MIT and is designed for students with an interest in the design of internal combustion engines. Specific course topics include performance, operation, heat transfer and friction phenomena, fuel requirements and the operation of internal combustion engines. Various types of internal combustion engines will be discussed, including diesel, spark-ignition and mixed-cycle engines. Students will read assigned texts and lecture notes, complete problem sets, conduct two labs and take a quiz and final exam. This course was originally offered to graduate students in the spring of 2008 in a lecture format.
