Master of Science in Public Relations

A master's degree in Public Relations prepares graduates to work for non-profits, the government and businesses. The degree focuses on the theory and research necessary for management positions in Public Relations. Students take classes in corporate, government and non-profit Public Relations and public affairs. Other courses may cover investor relations, community relations, corporate crises, political campaigning and marketing communication.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Relations

A doctoral degree in Public Relations builds on the curriculum of a master's degree. Students are taught to conduct in-depth research in Public Relations theory. Coursework covers both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. In addition to high-level classes in communication and public relations, Ph.D. candidates may also take courses in cognition to gain a more scientific perspective on the practice of Public Relations. Finally, students complete a dissertation and an oral examination of their subject matter. Ph.D.s in Public Relations may become researchers or professors.
