'German IV' OpenCourseWare provides intermediate and advanced German students with a great online resource for improving their language skills. This course was originally offered through the Foreign Languages and Literatures Department to bachelor-level students at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Students used their language skills to explore German culture by reading literature and periodicals.

German IV: Course Description

Have you ever thought it would be fascinating to understand the news broadcasts and literature from a foreign country? MIT's Foreign Languages and Literatures Department offers language classes like 'German IV' for students who want to go beyond the textbook and interpret authentic materials that are produced by and for native speakers. The 'German IV' lecture course was designed by Professor Ellen Crocker for students pursuing undergraduate majors or minors in German language. While building students' reading, listening, writing and speaking skills, 'German IV' introduced students to a wide range of stories, films and many other media sources in German.
