Case Studies in Terrorism Response: Course Description

The 'Case Studies in Terrorism Response' OpenCourseWare is presented by Jonathan Links who is on staff at Johns Hopkins University's Bloomberg School of Public Health. In this course, students will study likely terrorism scenarios, first response tasks, how to deal with unexpected critical concerns and other matters for consideration when developing and implementing a plan. The course is built around case studies of three terrorism-preparedness drills conducted in the Baltimore area. Each case study is accompanied by a series of hypothetical questions that help students to understand how changing and unexpected situations must be considered and acknowledged during responses to acts of terrorism. After completing review of each case study, students will be prepared to identify potential acts of terrorism, develop plans of action for first responders and be cognizant of issues that may affect any emergency response plans. The potential for terrorist activity is a reality of modern life and an ounce of preparation is worth a pound of cure when it comes to public health and safety.

The lecture notes and other study materials may be downloaded from the course website. If you are interested in taking advantage of this free course, visit the case studies in terrorism response course page.
