Working in a Global Economy: Course Description

By completing assignments from a downloadable list of assignments and readings, students taking this course can be introduced to some of the current thinking regarding the global economy and its effect on business practices and government policy. Readings for the course can illustrate examples of real life experiences of researching and working amidst the unfolding of what some term the 'new' global economy. Originally a seminar, the course was structured around student input that could bring to bear some of the large scale implications of the experiences of those students. The course includes samples of four of the student papers that were written for this seminar. The seminar was taught by Professor Suzanne Berger and Dr. Serenella Sferza. This undergraduate course would satisfy a requirement of the Bachelor of Science in Political Science, but the OpenCourseWare is non credit bearing. The seminar focused on how business and government practices and policy have been affected by the ongoing debates concerning the global economy, as viewed from the perspective of those who have had direct experience in the field.

The course materials include a list of readings, assignments, and examples of student work. If you'd like to take this course, visit the global economy course page.
