Syntactic Models: Course Description

The Department of Linguistics and Philosophy of MIT in Cambridge, MA, offer this OpenCourseWare, which covers syntactic models and theory. The course examines how approaches to grammar and syntax have changed throughout history. Students compare ancient and medieval writings to examine the evolution of grammatical rules. Students also examine regional differences in syntactic evolution, such as the divergence of Celtic and German grammar. Linguistics professor Dr. David Pesetsky teaches the course.
