Science and Communication: Course Description

This OpenCourseWare offers graduate students the opportunity to enhance their communication skills with respect to their thesis research by emphasizing contemplative philosophies of science. Through an extensive reading list, Professor James Price presents this course in segments that consider important questions regarding scientific philosophies, ethics and communication. The format is mindful of how much time Ph.D. Science students spend in research. The course's philosophical approaches expand students' ways of thinking about thesis research while preparing them to present research. This OpenCourseWare presents useful information to students at a variety of levels. Students should be committed to a thesis problem when downloading course materials. This course is formulated from curricula of the MIT/WHOI Joint Program, but the philosophies presented are applicable to any university program that requires a thesis or dissertation.
