Online Wildlife Management Degrees: Requirements to Complete an Online Wildlife Management Degree Program
Wildlife management programs are also known as environmental science, park management or natural resource management degree programs. These degree programs are not typically offered as entirely online programs. However, all programs in this subject prepare students to identify plants and wildlife, as well as teach strategies for managing animal herd populations and land development.
Online Wildlife Management Degree Program Overview
Wildlife management degree programs include a variety of biology, ecology and chemistry courses. These programs may be offered both online and in traditional, classroom settings. Depending on career paths, students may choose from associate, bachelor's or master's -level degree program.
Associate's and bachelor's degree programs are the most common degrees for wildlife management professionals. A 2-year associate's degree program is popular among aspiring wildlife technicians. Graduates of this degree typically seek employment with the game commission or parks and recreation departments. A bachelor's degree program in wildlife management is beneficial to potential wildlife biologists, zoologists or wildlife conservationists.
Online Wildlife Management Degree Program Completion Requirements
Both associate's and bachelor's degree programs in wildlife management prepare students to work with animals, plants and land rehabilitation and wildlife development. In order to complete this degree program, students most often study biology, ecology, chemistry and physical science. They also take courses in wildlife conservation, botany, geology and fish and wildlife management. Students may learn how to operate equipment, such as chain saws or animal trapping devices that aid in animal transfers.
Most online wildlife management programs require a lab component, which must be taken on campus or at a school-approved location; some also require internships at a wildlife rehabilitation center, zoo or state park. Online programs also allow students to work at their own pace, while communicating with professors and other students via class websites, email and online message boards.
