Design for Sustainability: Course Description

Starting with the definition of a green engineer, 'Design for Sustainability' takes you through current U.S. building trends, LCA (life cycle assessment), energy, materials and water usage and treatment. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is the best known rating system for 'green' buildings. Its criteria are discussed throughout the course. Other course topics include wastewater management, energy policies and environmentally-friendly building materials and construction methods. The MIT-offered class is taught by three professors, Dr. Eric Adams, Professor Jerome Connor and Professor John Ochsendorf.

Lecture notes, four assignments and 15 student projects are included. Get excited about sustainable architecture, and visit the design for sustainability course page.
