Chinese VI: Course Description

The series of streamlined Chinese courses at MIT were designed to bring students' reading and writing skills up to the same level as their conversational skills, and this 'Chinese VI' OpenCourseWare is the last class in this sequence. Professor Jin Zhang created this class for advanced Chinese language students at MIT. Students use topics ranging from chartered planes to the Chinese New Year as the object of reading, writing and discussion assignments. Many of the reading materials for this advanced course are culled from authentic language sources like Xinhua News Agency and Chinese language websites. Professor Zhang used a lecture-based approach to teach the original 'Chinese VI' course.

The OpenCourseWare version of 'Chinese VI' contains useful materials like assignments, reading lists and links to many of the course readings. Those who want to find out more about this free online Chinese class can visit the advanced Mandarin Chinese course page.
