Strategic Management and Consulting Proseminar (Theoretical Foundations): Course Description

This proseminar course was designed around a survey sent to 50 executives of leading global corporations that asked them to enumerate the challenges and opportunities they faced in national and international markets. The course's core topics were the six themes identified by the business management survey: rebuilding faith in corporate America; reducing costs and streamlining enterprise execution; safeguarding shareholder equity in the face of turbulent financial markets; adapting organizational structures to cope with potentially disastrous stock markets and new business competitors; attracting and managing a highly skilled workforce and questioning the fairness of globalization. These six themes were covered by 12 guest lecturers, from professors of business administration to strategic management consultants. Professor Gerhard Schulmeyer led the seminar course. By the end of this course, students had a refined perspective of the strategic and organizational challenges facing large corporations in the 21st Century. This course was intended for students pursuing a Masters of Business Administration degree program.

This free business strategy course provides a list of readings, a in-depth course summary prepared by students, a list of questions from guest speaker sessions and a summary of a book on how management can (re)gain public trust.
