Strategic Management II: Course Description

'Strategic Management II' concentrates on applications of concepts presented in the OpenCourseWare of 'Strategic Management I,' including positioning a business and developing a corporate organization structure. 'Strategic Management II' continues to use the Delta Model of corporate strategy introduced in the 'Strategic Management I' OpenCourseWare as a framework for analysis. Competencies, corporate missions, and innovation are introduced as elements to consider when charting a management strategy. Lecture notes follow up new concept introductions with a case study following a single company through the entire course. Readings cover both new and time-proven approaches to charting a course for an organization. Assignments prompt students to apply the Delta Model to a business of their choice. OpenCourseWare students may apply the analysis suggested by the assignments to their own business or to a business of their choice outside the reading list and parameters of the classroom presentation by MIT Sloan professor Arnoldo Hax. Strategic Management II is also available in simplified Chinese translation.

This free OpenCourseWare includes a reading list and presentation slides from lectures. If you are interested in taking this course, go to the strategic management course page.
