Power of Positive Parenting: Course Description

'The Power of Positive Parenting' is a unique online parenting skills course based on the research and publications of Glenn I. Latham, Ed.D., professor emeritus of education at Utah State University. The OpenCourseWare incorporates Dr. Latham's video and audio resources in addition to readings adapted from his book, also titled The Power of Positive Parenting. Undergraduate Family Studies students and parents may both benefit from this course. Twenty-seven independent lessons cover parenting babies, children and teens. Topics include sibling relationships, discipline, bad habits and substance abuse. The OpenCourseWare emphasizes the importance of spousal relationships in a healthy family unit. Student and parents can download charts and checklists in the Resources section to help with chores, behavioral expectations, toilet training and home environment assessment. Audio and video elements require QuickTime.

'The Power of Positive Parenting' OpenCourseWare package has written lecture notes, additional readings, video and audio lectures, the professor biography, links to related course websites and downloadable worksheets.
