Data, Models, and Decisions: Course Description

Almost every industry relies on managers to make crucial decisions in personnel, marketing, operations, sales and many areas that are key to the success of a business. Students who the 'Data, Models, and Decisions' OpenCourseWare will learn to analyze research data make more informed managerial decisions. The course introduces business students to the developing field of managerial science, which uses quantitative research methods such as probability, estimation and regression to solve practical business problems. Students will hopefully emerge from the course with a grasp on the fundamentals of managerial science, including the nature of the decision making process, how to simulate a complex system and how to best allocate business resources. 'Data, Models, and Decisions' is a graduate-level course from MIT's Sloan School of Management, taught by Professors Robert Freund, David Gamarnik and Andreas Schulz.
