The Rise of Modern Science: Course Description

'The Rise of Modern Science,' free OpenCourseWare presented by MIT, explores the foundations and influences of modern science. The original lecture course, taught by Dr. Slava Gerovitch, defines the impact that science and society have on each other. The course was an elective option in various MIT Bachelor of Science degree programs. The course content focused on the areas of Europe and the United States. Discussion topics were drawn from the field histories of psychology, physics, chemistry, medicine and biology.
