Symmetry Course Description:
The Open University offers the course entitled 'Symmetry' through its Mathematics and Statistics Department. This intermediate-level undergraduate course explores the geometric concept of symmetry. In this course students will learn about symmetry in two dimensions, how to represent symmetries graphically, group axioms, group theory proofs and 3D symmetry. Students who complete this course will be able to provide a definition of various symmetries in a mathematical context as well as create two and three-dimensional representation of symmetries. This is a self-directed course and is expected to take around 20 hours to complete.
Materials for this course include downloadable study guides, videos and a discussion forum. To download course materials, or to learn more, visit the symmetry course page.
