'Squares, Roots and Powers' is a free OpenCourseWareoffered by the Mathematics and Statistics Department of The Open University. This purpose of this undergraduate-level course is to help students understand exponents and to explain they are used in scientific notation and other calculations. The course includes helpful tricks to calculate square and cube roots, as well as the properties of negative powers, scientific notation and

fractional exponents. Five hours are needed to complete this online class.
