Students taking part in the 'Managing Nuclear Technology' OpenCourseWare project will learn about the current state of the electric power industry including pressing economic and policy issues. Nuclear power and its fuel cycle is the major topic to be covered in the course but other topics include nuclear waste management and deregulation and restructuring. A background in Nuclear Engineering is required to be successful in this course.

Managing Nuclear Technology: Course Description

'Managing Nuclear Technology' is taught by Professor Robert Lester and is designed for students with an interest in the management aspects of nuclear technology. Topics covered during the course of the project, include discussing and exploring alternatives to current private and public policy issues concerning the nuclear power industry and evaluating discounted cash flow methods in engineering economics. The course grade is determined by two quizzes, graded homework, which consists of six problem sets, and a team project due at the end of the semester.
