France 1660-1815: Enlightenment, Revolution, Napoleon: Course Description

The free 'France 1660-1815: Enlightenment, Revolution, Napoleon' course is taught by Professor Jeffrey Ravel and is designed for students with an interest in French history. This course covers four major aspects for French life over the period between the rule of Louis XIV to Napoleon, including absolutism, enlightenment, revolution and empire. During this period students can expect to see how the French people changed, specifically the course will cover their material lives, individual and communal worlds and mental worlds. The final course grade will be determined by four 3-page papers and a longer final paper.
