Geodynamics: Course Description

Geodynamics is a subfield of geophysics that specializes in the physical evolution of the earth. In this free OpenCourseWare from MIT, students will learn how the earth's crust and mantle has transformed over time. The course emphasizes the study of geological responses to stressors, a field known as rheometry. Key rheological characteristics covered in the course include brittleness, elasticity and fluidity. 'Geodynamics' is well suited to students of Physics, Geology or Engineering with a background in advanced applied mathematics. This graduate-level course is taught by MIT Professor Bradford Hager.

Lecture notes and problem sets are available for download on the course website. If you're interested in taking this free online course, visit the geodynamics course page.
