Genetics: Course Description

This OpenCourseWare examines genetics from the microscopic level to larger, multi-celled organisms with an emphasis on essential concepts. This course begins by surveying the structure of the gene and gene function. Other topics include pedigrees, recombination, bacterial genetics, prokaryotic regulation and eukaryotic genes. More advanced concepts covered later in the course include chromosome anomalies and the genetics of cancer. Professors Chris Kaiser, Gerald Fink and Leona Samson collaborate with Dr. Michelle Mischke to formulate the content of this OpenCourseWare. This course is presented in lecture format with notes provided for each lecture topic.
