Evolution: Artificial Selection and Domestication: Course Description

'Evolution: Artificial Selection and Domestication' is an intermediate-level course offered by The Open University. This course teaches students the effects of domestication on the physical features and genetics of livestock. Students will also learn the similarities and differences between artificial selection and natural evolution involved with the domestication of livestock. The course also explores the ways in which the domestication of livestock helps produce a variety of consumer goods, like clothing and food. This course will take most students approximately five hours to complete. OpenCourseWare readers will also be part of an online community through forums and student learning journals, which they keep throughout the course to record their thoughts and show to other students online.
