Differential Equations Course Description:

The Open University offers the 'Differential Equations' OpenCourseWare through its Mathematics and Statistics Department. A basic comprehension of calculus, an ability to solve first-order differential equations and an ability to explain complex numbers are recommended for understanding the mathematical principles laid out in this course. Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to solve homogeneous second-order differential equations, understand the the methods for constructing solutions to linear constant-coefficient second-order differential equations and be familiar with the use of initial and boundary conditions to obtain values of constants in second-order differential equations. This is an undergraduate-level course and is expected to take 16 hours to complete.

A complete study guide with full explanations of course materials and student exercises is available as a downloadable PDF. A discussion board is also available for students to collaborate on course topics. For more information, visit the differential equations course page.
