Chemistry Laboratory Techniques: Course Description

Offering an introduction to the various methods involved with experimental chemistry, the 'Chemistry Laboratory Techniques' OpenCourseWare should serve as a supplemental tool for those who already have a strong background in the basics of Chemistry. It is also important to note that the experiments described in this course are potentially hazardous and require appropriate safety precautions, including special facilities, equipment and proper supervision. Many experimental laboratory-related topics are covered, including re-crystallization and distillation. Students in this undergraduate-level class will also study data collection and analysis methods.

This course includes an excellent series of video demonstrations, for which RealOne Player software is necessary. Also included with the course is a complete set of files documenting the preparation and execution of each experiment, as well as suggested reading.
