Carrier Systems: Course Description
When choosing a carrier system, companies must decide which network is the most cost effective, taking into consideration actual cost, transportation time and budget. Each carrier system, be it in planes, trains or automobiles, has its own distinct advantages and disadvantages. In this free OpenCourseWare provided by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)'s School of Engineering, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, students will explore different carrier systems and their networks to better understand and analyze them. Students will understand how to maximize the use and efficiency of carrier systems by learning to schedule operations, plan effective routes and determine ideal load sizes.
