Sustainable Design and Technology Research Workshop: Course Description
Sustainable design encompasses the global effort to find architectural solutions that work to ensure that elements in the environment, including inorganic elements, living organisms and humans function in a cohesive manner. 'Sustainable Design and Technology Research Workshop,' a free course provided as part of the MIT OpenCourseware project, looks at the concepts of sustainability and urban design. Students will develop an understanding of how sustainable architecture is visualized, evaluated and executed at different levels. There is an emphasis on striking a balance with the environment and reducing the ecological impact of architectural design and technical applications. This course, which is presented in a workshop format, is taught by Professors Leon Glickman and Andrew Scott from the MIT Department of Architecture.
