Financial Markets: Course Description

Investors face an unpredictable and unstable world when they take their chances in financial markets. Both luck and expertise play major roles in an individual's success or failure, but it is debatable which of the two takes precedence or is it a combination.

This 4-hour Open University course focuses on this key topic. Students are provided with a detailed overview of financial markets. They learn to identify efficient and perfect markets, defined as markets in which prices immediately reveal all available and pertinent information.

They also study the 'Random Walk Theory', a key idea in the investment world that seeks to explain the development of share prices. Additionally, this course focuses on the 'Efficient Markets Hypothesis', which describes any instance in which the actual price of a security reflects a solid estimate of its intrinsic value.
