The Law of Corporate Finance and Financial Markets: Course Description

Five important areas of business activity are covered in 'The Law of Corporate Finance and Financial Markets' OpenCourseWare. The first module skims the basics of duties law, regulation and contracts. The second focuses on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), considering key players, deal structures, tax issues and M&A of publicly-held or international companies. The third module, business entities, examines public ownership, insider trading, accountability and governance. The fourth module discusses raising and investing money, and the fifth covers anti-trust issues, bankruptcy and reorganization. Senior Lecturer in Law John Akula taught the original course at MIT via lectures to graduate business students.
