Machine Learning: Course Description
This OpenCourseWare is an introductory course in machine learning that begins with an overview of classification and linear regression and ends with recent topics such as hidden Markov models and Bayesian networks. Other course topics include kernal regressions, methods used to select proper modeling methods, clustering algorithms and more. The course's goal is to provide students with an understanding of the theory, use and application of machine learning methods. Professor Tommi Jaakkola teaches this lecture-based course which emphasizes hands on assignments to learn the subject matter. The course's main assignment is completion of a short paper discussing possible applications of machine learning algorithms or analyzing a machine learning theory.
