Investments: Course Description

The Sloan School of Management at MIT in Cambridge, MA, offers this OpenCourseWare class, teaching students to understand financial data and make profitable investments. The course teaches the three major financial theories, including portfolio theory, the capital asset pricing model and arbitrage pricing theory. Students learn to use empirical evidence to understand equity and equity options, fixed income instruments and derivatives, credit markets and credit derivatives, market efficiency, active investments and behavioral finance. To use this knowledge effectively, students learn to develop and use financial models, conduct data analysis and probability evaluations. By the end of the course, students should be able to analyze potential investments with various mathematical methods and use empirical evidence to understand and follow the type of market they are investing in. This course is taught by business professor Dr. Reto Gallati. Students need an Internet connection and access to the required readings.
