Introduction to Environmental Policy & Planning: Course Description
Explore Environmental Policy and Planning by debating theoretical and philosophical approaches to environmental policy decisions. This free OpenCourseWare by MIT's Professor Lawrence Susskind focuses on environmental examples from throughout the world. The methods in which society protects and manages its environmental resources are emphasized throughout the course. Other topics covered include the politics of ecosystem management, environmental governance and management of sustainability. This material is fitting for aspiring students of environmental planning or policy; no previous coursework is needed to fully participate in this free, introductory course. The Environmental Policy and Planning concentration is a part of MIT's Urban Studies and Planning department. Assignments, simulations, debates, journal writing and a final memo constituted the original on-campus course. Students also learned about work done by the MIT Environmental Policy Group faculty.
