Electric Machines: Course Description

'Electric Machines' is a free OpenCourseWare from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This graduate-level course uses examples of electric machinery to teach students the principles of electromechanics. Aimed at graduate students, the class places an emphasis on the analysis of current research. Students will learn the principles of the energy conversion parts of mechatronics, and will be able to design the major classes of linear and rotating electric machines. Students will also learn to estimate the dynamic parameters of electric machines and to understand how parameters affect the performance of systems that use these electric machines. MIT Professor James Kirtley teaches this free online course.

Course materials include includes lecture notes, problem sets and several quizzes with solutions. If you are interested in taking this free course, visit the electromechanical concepts course page.
