Two of the most common online degrees for prospective Database Administrators are a bachelor's degree in computer science or a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in information systems.

Enrolling for an Online Degree in Database Administration

Database Administrators must have excellent logical and organizational skills and pay close attention to detail. They must also have strong communication skills, allowing them to work well with other computer professionals and co-workers in different specialization areas.

To prepare for enrollment in an online degree program in Database Administration, you should complete several high school-level courses in computer science and mathematics, such as algebra, calculus and statistics. Completing an Online Degree in Database Administration

Most institutions don't offer online degrees in Database Administration; however, programs are available in related fields. Many jobs in Database Administration require a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a field like computer science or information science.

Classes in an online computer science or information science bachelor's degree program generally cover subjects like artificial intelligence, cognitive modeling, scientific computation and networking. Common requirements for a degree in computer science or information science include courses in Internet technologies, introductory programming, computer languages, database management systems and technical communication.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, www.bls.gov, an increasingly popular educational option for database administrators is a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in information systems. This degree offers students an interdisciplinary education, drawing from academic areas like information technology, finance and business management.
