Concepts in Economic Evaluation: Course Description

'Concepts in Economic Evaluation' is an OpenCourseWare designed to teach students how to use economic theory, along with various concepts regarding economic evaluation, to conduct economic analyses. Students will study a variety of topics, including the application of marginal decision making, various cost-benefit models and interpreting and evaluating cost-benefit analysis for determining policy recommendations. Those who complete the course will gain an understanding of basic economic concepts, such as cost-effectiveness, cost-utility, cost of illness and cost minimization. Kevin Frick, from the Department of Health Policy and Management, teaches the course. The course is taught with an eye towards economic evaluation in the United States, however the principles taught may be applied to many economic systems. Lectures are accompanied by problem sets featuring hypothetical real-world economics-based challenges intended to reinforce the theoretical topics covered.

The lectures are presented in a downloadable online format. If you would like to take this OpenCourseWare presentation, visit the concept in economic evaluation course page.
