Atmospheric Physics and Chemistry: Course Description

The OpenCourseWare 'Atmospheric Physics and Chemistry' is an introductory course for first-year graduate students offered by MIT. The free course teaches students the basics of chemistry and physics and how they relate to the atmosphere. Students will study computer codes, evolution, aerosols and theories of their formation and removal as well as the interactions between climate and air pollution. Some of the lecture topics include chemical thermodynamics, air pollution controls, climate changes, atmospheric transport models, emissions control technology, tropospheric chemistry and combustion sources and stoichiometry. The MIT course was taught by Professors Gregory McRae and Ronald Prinn in 2006 as a lecture class two times per week.

This OpenCourseWare includes lecture notes, readings, problem set assignments, an exam and study questions. If you are interested in taking this free course, visit the atmospheric sciences course page.
