Development Economics: Microeconomic Issues and Policy Models: Course Description
This free graduate-level course will appeal to business professionals, human rights activists, economists, graduate students studying Economics and those with a general interest in global economics. The course focuses on the study of developing countries in Asia, Southeast Asia and India. Students will study a variety of topics related to the region, including peasant behavior, health, nutrition, credit and insurance problems and institutions and government failures. This 16 lecture course is taught by a team of MIT instructors, including Professors Esther Duflo, Abhijit Banerjee and Michael Kremer. Students are encouraged to purchase three textbooks to help them get the most out of the course.
