Network Optimization: Course Description
Network flow theory is an area of study that can be implemented in a variety of fields, from logistics to transportation. This class, offered by the Sloan School of Management at MIT, guides graduate-level students through a visual and intensive approach to network flow problems. The course will examine most of the relevant algorithms through animations that can be downloaded as needed. Utilizing these animations, this OpenCourseWare will begin with such topics as computational complexity, flow decomposition and label setting algorithms. Later, students will study integral cases of network flow problems, including the shortest path problem and the maximum flow problem. Other problems study include the multi-commodity flow problem and the minimum cost flow problem. Massachusetts Institute of Technology Professor Orlin presents this course in lecture format and includes problem set homework assignments along with the animations.
This OpenCourseWare provides the animations, lecture notes, exams and homework assignments online. For more information, visit the network optimization course home page.
