Marketing Strategy: Course Description

'Marketing Strategy' applies marketing concepts to the organization as a whole to create a unified corporate strategy. This seminar addresses the interactions between multiple elements inside and outside an organization that influence the marketing strategy, including technology, competition and customers. Students learn to identify opportunities for competitive advantage and assess the long-term viability of those advantages. Five sections present approaches for both market leaders and new entrants into a field, exploring competitive and corporate advantage, profit and creating an overall strategy. Case studies support each section, and assignments encourage students to analyze each case. Presentation slides summarize key questions of each lecture by MIT Sloan professor Birger Wernerfelt. This OpenCourseWare is available in Spanish, Portuguese and simplified and traditional Chinese.

This OpenCourseWare includes assignment questions and PowerPoint presentation materials from lectures. For more information, check out the business marketing techniques course page.
