Cosmology: Course Description
'Cosmology' was a lecture format course offered through MIT's Physics Department at the graduate level and taught by Professor Edmund Bertschinger. It concentrates on physics of the early universe and examines in detail current day observational cosmology. Topics include radiation ('Cosmic Microwave Background'), galaxies and other related phenomena at the electromagnetic spectrum's red end (high redshift) and formation of cosmic structure. Other topics include gamma-ray bursts, absorption lines of quasar QSO, baryosynthesis, nucleosynthesis and cosmic inflation. Some knowledge of general relativity would be useful.
'Cosmology' OpenCourseWare provides access to the course's reading list, problem sets and related resources. To find out more about 'Cosmology' (an interesting subject), please visit the astrophysics cosmology course page.
