Saginaw Valley State University is one of the newest higher education institutions in Michigan. The university is located in University Center, MI, and offers degree programs in areas, such as philosophy, occupational therapy, agriculture and criminal justice.

Saginaw Valley State University Overview

Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) was established in 1963 and has a student population of approximately 10,500. The Michigan Organization of Residence Halls Association voted SVSU's student housing facilities, which house over 2,700 students, as 'Michigan's Best Residential Life'.

The university's campus recreation programs include club and intramural sports, personal fitness and group fitness activities. SVSU has student organizations in a variety of areas, including spiritual, community service, Greek, professional and academic.

Admissions and Enrollment Overview

SVSU offers undergraduate, including freshmen, second bachelor's degree and dual enrollment, as well as graduate, international and transfer applications. Prospective freshmen will need to complete the university application, financial aid, reserve a spot for orientation, complete the student housing packet and upon admission to the university, pay the first tuition installment. Campus Facilities and Learning Environment

The Melvin J. Zahnow Library has four floors and is home to over 200,000 volumes and more than 400,000 non-print materials, such as e-books and media. Library services include interlibrary loans, reference assistance, access to course related materials, open computer labs and off-campus services for students enrolled in Internet or remote campus courses. SVSU has a student-faculty ratio of 19:1, with an average class size of 24 and over 275 full-time faculty. The campus computer labs offer general, programming, graphics and multimedia hardware/software; online software request forms are available for students.
