Quantum Computation: Course Description

'Quantum Computation' is a free course taught by Professor Peter Shor from the MIT Department of Mathematics. It is recommended that students have an understanding of linear algebra in order to fully grasp the course material. The objective of this OpenCourseWare is to help students understand the basics of quantum theory and the various application of quantum computation. Topics for this free course includes cryptography, quantum algorithms, quantum mechanics, quantum error correction and the physics of information processing. Specific lectures will focus on the study of Simon's algorithm, Grover's search algorithm and other theories that have found application in the realm of quantum computing. The course will also discuss the applications of quantum technologies and the changes they will bring.

The materials for this class include lecture notes, assignment and examinations in the form of downloadable PDF files, as well as a reading list. If you are interested in taking this course, visit the quantum computation course page.
