Introduction to Video: Course Description
With the use of digital video cameras and editing software like Final Cut Pro, students take roughly shot footage and edit it into a cohesive finished story. Throughout this undergraduate Media Arts and Sciences course, students learned how ideas are conceived. They discussed ways to format their ideas using styles like documentary or essay. And they learned techniques for capturing sound and light. Students chose their own topic and by the end of the semester presented a finished audio-visual project. MIT professor Joe Gibbons taught this Media Arts and Sciences course and led students through seven assignments that reinforce the course content.
Included with Professor Gibbons's seven assignments is a list of reading materials, screening information and two examples of student projects, one from a midterm and one from a final. There is also a simplified Chinese translation available. If you are interested in this Video Arts course, please visit this video production course page.
