Quantum mechanics is the branch of physics which studies mechanical systems at or close to the atomic level, such as atoms, molecules, protons, electronics and other subatomic particles. An OpenCourseWare version of 'Quantum Mechanics' is offered free online by Utah State University. The course was originally designed to provide a working knowledge of quantum mechanics and the techniques and mechanical applications associated with it.

Quantum Mechanics: Course Description

Taught by Professor Charles G. Torre as an undergraduate level-course, 'Quantum Mechanics' studies the foundation of the principles associated with the study of matter at the atomic and subatomic level. Lecture topics include commuting observables, momentum, stationary states and classical mechanics, spin systems and rotations and the electromagnetic field. The goal of the course is for students to be able to understand the mechanical applications of quantum mechanics and apply them to real world scenarios. Some of theories covered are Ehrenfest's Theorem, the Hamiltonian and the Schrodinger Equation and Bell's Theorem. Offered through Utah State University's physics department, previous experience or understanding of the historical origins of physics and wave mechanics is helpful when exploring this course.
