Introduction to Marketing: Course Description

'Introduction to Marketing' presents a basic survey of marketing concepts both as conceptual models and as business practices. A complete set of PowerPoint slides from MIT Sloan professor John Hauser's lectures covers marketing theory in detail. Assignment guidelines encourage students to apply the theory to real-world companies from case studies. Special attention is paid to how the theory and application can conflict to create unethical behavior from managers and organizations. Projects encourage students to analyze each concept according to how it fits in the model of the four P's and five C's of marketing. This lecture-based OpenCourseWare provides a conceptual framework for marketing applicable across industries, sectors and even the digital-physical divide. Students are encouraged to apply the concepts and case study takeaways to their current or future marketing and management situations. 'Introduction to Marketing' is also available in simplified Chinese.

This OpenCourseWare includes readings, presentation slides from lectures, project and assignment guidelines and links to related resources for further study. If you are interested in taking Introduction to Marketing, visit the introductory business marketing course page
