Learn about the coming together of information technology and the democratic process in this free online class available through the University of Michigan. The original course, taught by Steven Jackson, was an elective choice in the Master of Science in Information (MSI) program at the University of Michigan. The coursework centered on philosophies and conventions of democratic politics and the changing role of information technology and its effect on building, comprehending and altering these ideals. Current discussions involving politics and information technology are focused around various political, democratic and social theory types. This graduate-level seminar-lecture format course prepared class participants for the second course. Course two takes the groundwork laid down in part one and builds on it.
