Flash: Course Description

Flash has become such a familiar name to web users that many people use the plug-in without knowing that Flash is also a multifunctional software program. 'Flash Animation' walks students through the increasingly complex applications, such as animation or tweening, developing vector or bitmap art, timeline animation and data integration. The OpenCourseWare covers the full spectrum of Flash functions, including creating movies, 3D animation, interactive demonstrations, graphics and special text effects. The course also teaches students to work with layers, program with ActionScript and add motion, text and sound to Flash movies. Upon completion of the course, students will be equipped with the tools to create vector graphics and animations using Flash, integrate media files, export Flash files to the web and apply sound to files.

All of the instruction leads students to develop their own Flash projects. Professor Andrew Walker of Utah State University's Department of Instructional Technology teaches this course. Required materials include a Flash 8 Student and Teacher Version or a Studio 8 Student and Teacher Version. A free 30-day trial is available for download from the Adobe website.

Lecture materials may be downloaded from the course site. If you're interested in taking this course, visit the Flash animation course page.
