Students taking part in the 'Economics of Marine Transportation Industries' OpenCourseWare project will learn about the economics of markets that are important to natural resources, the environment and marine transportation. Some of the topics discussed include sustainability, the impacts of policies and regulations and competition. This course requires only the permission of the instructor as a prerequisite.

Economics of Marine Transportation Industries: Course Description

'Economics of Marine Transportation Industries' is taught by Professor Hauke Kite-Powell and is designed for students with an interest in markets that are traditionally serviced by the marine transportation industry. During the course of this half-semester long project students will learn about intergenerational equity and its relationship to current economic practice, the structures of the markets of the marine transportation industry and concepts of national income accounts. The course is broadly split into two sections. The first is a review of economic theory and the second focuses on specific applications to marine industries.
